The Michelob Ultra Championship
Magnolia Plantation Golf Club
March 29-April 1, 2007
Lake Mary, FL (April 1, 2007)…Brandon Brown (Shelbyville, KY) fired an even par 72 in the final round of the Michelob Ultra Championship over the 7175 yard, par 72 Magnolia Plantation Golf Club to garner his first ever Hooters Tour title.“Standing over the final putt (eighteen inches) I just kept telling myself that I had made that putt before many times and I just sank it,” said the twenty-four year old Brown. “It is an unbelievable feeling right now.”
The Eastern Kentucky grad fired rounds of 66-70-69-72 for a four day total of eleven-under par 277 and a one stroke victory over Kris Blanks (Bluffton, SC) and Matthew Every (Daytona Beach, FL). Blanks closed with a two-under par 70, while Every closed with a three-under par 69 for ten-under par 278 for the week.
“I played well all day until I got to 16 and I had a few hiccups coming down the stretch but I was able to gain my composure and made a few up and downs on 17 and 18.”
Matt Davidson (Chapel Hill, NC) closed with a two-under 70 and finished in fourth at eight-under par 270.
Brown collects a career best $33,566 for his first Hooters Tour win, while Blanks and Every take home $13,906 for their second place finish.
The NGA Hooters Tour takes a week off before swinging back into action in Auburn, Alabama for the NGA Hooters Tour Auburn-Opelika Classic.
