Longs, SC (November 12, 2009)…NGA/Hooters officials have cancelled the weather-stricken Carolina Winter Series event at Black Bear Golf Club due to unplayable course conditions.
Black Bear Golf Club received over 4 inches of rain Tuesday evening carrying into late afternoon Wednesday, leaving 75% of the playing areas in casual water and 90% of bunkers unplayable for competition by NGA/Hooters Tour standards.
“We exhausted all feasible options for play, but in the end the remnants of Tropical Storm Ida proved to be more than the course could handle the last few days,” said NGA/Hooters Tour Official Ben Larson.
Next week, November 16-18, the Carolina Winter Series travels to Meadowlands Golf Club in Calabash, NC for the 3rd event of the 12 event series.
The Top 5 members on the 2009 Carolina Winter Series money list will earn full exempt status on the 2010 NGA/Hooters Tour Pro Series.
