“I tried to play smart but aggressive. I knew I had to keep playing hard and not let up” commented the first time champion on his record setting final round 61, “It was easily the best round of my career from tee to green”.
Pettitt carded rounds of 70-64-69-61 to finish four stokes in front of early round leader Ryan Blaum (Coral Gable, FL) who finished in solo 2nd at twenty under par 268.
“I’ll never forget this week. Everyone at the Members Course has been great and gone out of their way to help us” said Pettitt on his week at Woodcreek Farms “I thank everyone for their hard work and making this win so special for me”.
A group of four golfers finished in a tie for 3rd after posting seventeen under par 271 totals. This group includes Andrew Medley (Athens, AL), Roberto Castro (Alpharetta, GA), Travis Bertoni (Paso Robles, CA) and Jon Curran (Orlando, FL).
Rounding out the top ten at the Capitol Chevrolet Classic were Chip Deason (Lexington, SC) and Andrew Svoboda (Larchmont, NY) who finished in a tie for 7th at seventeen under par 272 while Martin Catalioto (Hilton Head Island, SC), Kevin Kisner (Aiken, SC), Michael Welch (Quincy, MA) and Piri Borja (Coral Springs, FL) each posted fourteen under par 274 totals and will share 9th position.
Former Clemson Tiger golfer Ben Duncan (Greenville, SC) heads up the rest of the South Carolina contingency at the Capitol Chevrolet Classic after finishing in a tie for 13th at thirteen under par 275 while fellow Clemson Alum Stephen Poole (Aiken, SC) and Adam Hart (Blythewood, SC) finished in a tie for 17th at twelve under par 276.
Pettitt takes home $33,566 for the win while Blaum receives $16,751 for his runner-up finish.
