Calabash, NC (July 15, 2009)…Whit Staples (Tequesta, FL) carded a one-under par 71 in the final round Thursday to capture the eleventh event of the Hooters Carolina Series over the 7101 yard par 72 Crow Creek Golf Club.
 
Staples, a former University of North Carolina golfer, carded rounds of 67-67-71 for a three day total of eleven-under par 205 and a one stroke victory over Tony Parrish (North Myrtle Beach, SC) and Trey Treadwell (Haymarket,VA). Parrish and Treadwell fired 68 and 70 respectively to finish in second at ten-under par 206.
 
Patrick Lundy (Little River) headed up the rest of the local contingent after carding a two-under par 70 to finish T-6th at six-under par 210 while Matt Veltman (Myrtle Beach) finished T-12th and Joseph Lyda (Myrtle Beach) finished T-15.
 
The former Tarheel collects $4901 for his first Carolina Series win, while Parrish and Treadwell take home $2092.50 for their runner-up finishes.
 
The Hooters Carolina Series heads to Meadowlands GC in Calabash, NC for week twelve of the series with action starting on Tuesday August 11 and ending up on Thursday August 13.
