Former Hooters Tour Member Wins Fifth PGA Title
Honolulu, Hawaii (January 18, 2009)…With a five-under par 65 Sunday, former Hooters Tour Player of The Year Zach Johnson, captured his fifth PGA TOUR title at the Sony Open. (Picture courtesy of BADZ/PGA Tour)The Cedar Rapids, IA native carded rounds of 69-65-66-65 for a four day total of fifteen-under par 265 and a two stroke victory over former Hooters Tour member David Toms and Australian Adam Scott.
With the victory, Johnson collects a first place check worth $972,000 and moves to 1st in the FedEx Cup points.
Johnson played the Hooters Tour during the 2001 and 2002 seasons and the first two events of the 2003 season collecting four wins and Player of the Year honors in 2001. In his 38 starts, Johnson made the cut in 36 with 24 top tens and over $206,700 in earnings and had a scoring average of 69.051.
