The Hooters Tour Classic @ RoyalLakes

April 6-9, 2006

Flowery Branch, GA (April 9, 2006)… Brent DelaHoussaye (Greenville, SC) fired a three-under par 68 during the final round of the Hooters Tour Classic @ Royal Lakes over the 6980 yard, par 71 Royal Lakes Golf and CC to earn his first ever Hooters Tour title in his first ever event.

The former ClemsonUniversity golfer posted rounds of 69-70-67-68 for a four day total of ten-under par 274 and a two stroke victory over Emmett Turner (Augusta, GA). DelaHoussaye reached the par 5 72nd hole needing a birdie to win but sank an hundred foot eagle putt to solidify his first professional win.

“Standing in the fairway on eighteen I knew I only needed to birdie to win and I was aiming for the fat part of the green,” said the 24 year old rookie. “It never crossed my mind that I would make it, I just wanted to get it to two or three feet and tap in for the win.”

“When hit the put I was in a different world mentally,” said DelaHoussaye. “It was on the right line and I just waited to see and then it dropped.”

DelaHoussaye collects a career best $24,000 for his first place finish, while Turner collects $11,956 for his second place finish. Turner posted a two-under par 69 Sunday to move from a tie for 5th place to all alone in second place at eight-under 276.

Defending champion and Jonesboro native Hank Kim headed up a group of golfers four strokes back at six-under par 278. The group collects $5,996 for their 3rd place finish.

The Hooters Tour heads south on I-85 next week to Auburn, Alabama for the Hooters Tour Auburn-Opelika Tourism Bureau Classic April 13-16.
