April 21-27, 2008

McCormick, SC (April 27, 2008)…Kevin Kisner closed with a 5 under 67 to win The Savannah Lakes Resort Classic in McCormick, South Carolina. The former Georgia Bulldog edged fellow UGA Alum David Miller by 1 shot. Miller birdied his first 4 holes of the day en route to a 7 under 65 finishing alone in 2nd.

With storm clouds bearing down on the golf course, Kisner calmly drained an 8 foot par putt on 18 to seal the victory for the Aiken, SC native.

“I actually thought I had a two stroke lead, but when I checked the board after my chip I saw David was at 17,” said the 24 year old. “I didn’t really get nervous. I’ve been in the hunt a couple times this year. It wasn’t the easiest putt but I was definitely relieved when it fell.”

The win is Kisner’s 2nd as a professional. He collects $33,565 as well as the traditional “Blue Jacket” given each year to the winner of the Savannah Lakes Resort Classic.

Casey Crain (Carriere, MS) and 3rd round leader Luke Bakke (Little Rock, AR) finished tied for 3rd at 16 under for the week.

North Augusta’s Scott Brown ended up 11 under tied for 12th, while Augusta’s jay Mundy finished tied for 15th at 10 under.

The Hooters Tour will take a week off before making the long trip north to visit South Bend, Indiana where the Orion Golf Group Classic benefiting Life Treatment Center will kick off May 5. The total purse for the Orion Golf Group Classic is $200,000.
